Come learn about Chessie, the Chesapeake’s own elusive sea monster!
The Delmarva Discovery Museum is excited to announce an informative talk about the elusive Chessie: the Chesapeake’s own Sea Monster. Eric Cheezum is an Eastern Shore Native, independent historian and Adjunct Professor at Chesapeake College. Join them on March 22nd at 1 pm as he sets the scene and explores the cultural impact of Chessie. Chessie was first spotted in the Bay during the summer of 1978. After its initial disappearance Chessie reappeared in 1980 and was finally captured on video in 1982 in Kent Island. The Media and public were enamored with Chessie. What Cheezum explores with his talk is the connection between Chessie sightings and the ever changing nature of life on the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Through his informational talk Eric Cheezum explores the multilayered symbolic meaning of Chessie. This educational talk is great for children ages 7 and up and adults alike.  Cost of the talk is included in admission to the museum. You can reserve your tickets by clicking the RSVP button. Eric will be available for book signings as well as having books for sale at the end of the talk.
