Coinciding with the Julia A. Purnell Museum annual festival FiberFest, the museum displays an exhibit of local needle art. This year, the art show is scheduled to be on display beginning September 4th and on display throughout the rest of September and all of October, during museum hours. This year, the deadline for submission to the show and competition is August 21st. Needle art of all types are invited.
Needle artists from the entire region have participated, and every year visitors are treated to a wide variety of needle art proudly displayed at the museum. Afghans, quilts, needlepoint, crochet clothing and bed covers, wall hangings, even toys.
The competition invites needle artists of all ages, as there are adult and children categories. A local judge with needle art expertise assigns winners and ribbons are displayed in time for the October 10th FiberFest!
