E. Pauline Riall Lecture Series Featuring William Martinez

William Martinez presents as this year’s featured speaker for the E. Pauline Riall Lecture Series 7 p.m. Thursday, November 9, in Holloway Hall Auditorium. Through American Sign Language (ASL) paired with singing, SIGNing the Song: Power of Belonging shares the true story of a boy who grew up in a deaf household with little exposure to TV, radio or movies. Because of his incredible eighth-grade music teacher, Mrs. Norma Freeman, Martinez came out of his silent world and discovered his voice through music. ASL and song lyrics meld together into a beautifully unique art for m. This presentation is a heartwarming celebration of the incredible impact teachers have on each child’s life … regardless of their struggles. In the past seven years, Martinez has spoken for state, regional and national conferences as well as visited countless school districts … all to inspire thousands of teachers to remember the incredible impact they have on their student’s lives.
