About the Buffalo Soldier Living History Site:
The Buffalo Soldier Living History Site is a non-profit dedicated to Buffalo Soldier history. Their purpose is to establish and to preserve a place where Buffalo Solder history will come alive. The property was purchased by and lived on by a Buffalo Soldier who served with the 9th Cavalry in the late 1800s. The site will collaborate with partners who embrace our mission to educate both the local and broader communities as to the valor and courage of Black American soldiers starting a few years after the bloody Civil War had ended. Activities to engage the public will foster a sense of respect for the sacrifices made by Buffalo Soldiers and open minds to the broader missions undertaken by Black soldiers who could not escape the daggers of racism no matter where they roamed, not even while serving in the U.S. Regular Army as enlisted men.
