Nestled along a branch of the Wicomico River, the Salisbury Zoological Park was established in 1954 when a small group of animals was placed on exhibit in the City Park. Salisbury’s “zoo” was instantly popular with visitors, who, to this day, help provide, the resources needed to maintain this nationally-accredited zoological institution.
Today, the Salisbury Zoo has grown into a 13-acre facility that provides naturalistic exhibits featuring specimens native to the Americas. The Zoo charges no admission fee to visitor, but relies heavily on the donations placed in receptacles located neat the gates.
