Chessie the Chesapeake Bay Monster Program, Delmarva Discovery Museum, Pocomoke City. Come discover the friendly Chesapeake Bay monster that sparked mass conservation efforts for our beloved Bay. This friendly sea monster was first reported in the 1930’s and has become one of the most famous folklore characters of our region. In the 1980s the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service published a coloring book telling Chessie’s story. Join us to hear the story of Chessie and receive your own copy of Chessie’s coloring book. 12:30pm.

Preserving the Past: Paper, OC Lifesaving Station Museum. This workshop is offered as part of Worcester County History Week. It will give you the knowledge to properly preserve and care for your personal photo collection. Workshop held at the Ocean City Library. Registration required. Â Mondays, 10:30-Noon. A curated tour at the Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum will follow this workshop!

History & Mystery of the American Eel, OC Lifesaving Station Museum. Join us as we delve into the mysterious life of eels! Learn about their cultural impact on the Delmarva region and their 1,000+ mile migration to and from the Sargasso Sea. 1pm.

Station No. 4 Historic Tour, OC Lifesaving Station Museum. Take a trip back in time as you walk through Ocean City’s once-active 1891 Life-Saving Station. You will learn what day-to-day life looked like and what was required to be a United States Life-Saving Service Surfman. What did downtime look like? What would they eat? Who was the keeper? What kind of medicine did they use? All these answers plus more! 1pm.

Homecoming Harvest, Taylor House Museum, Berlin. Celebrate local history, record your own oral history, and join the opening ceremony for the new Mary Humphreys Arboretum. Food, music, and photo ops! Free. 2-5pm.

Friend or Foe, Delmarva Discovery Museum, Pocomoke City. Learn about the history of our native Delmarva animals. Learn how people have viewed them throughout history starting with the Native Americans and early settlers. How were these animals used? Why were certain animals feared? What did they symbolize and what do they mean to us today here on the Delmarva Peninsula? 12:30pm.

History Comes to Life, OC Lifesaving Station Museum. Watch the Ocean Pines Players theater group represent figures from Ocean City’s past! Free. 1-4pm.

Book signing and talk with Maria Grosskettler, OC Lifesaving Station Museum. In addition to reading a selection from her book, Grosskettler will share her experience of researching Berlin history. 11am-3pm.

Clothing and Costume Tour, Taylor House Museum, Berlin. Take a closer look at our archival collection of textiles from Berlin families during our CLOTHING & COSTUME TOUR. View an 1870’s wedding gown, a whalebone corset, a horsehair cloak, and much, much more! Free. 5pm

Book Signing with Harry Wenzel and Mabel Rogers, OC Lifesaving Station Museum. Author Harry Wenzel will be introducing his book The Ship Faithful Steward, A Story of Scots Irish, English, and Irish Migration to Pennsylvania. This story tells the history of the ship and its fateful voyage off the Delaware coast. 11am-3pm.
Author Mabel Rogers will be introducing her book The Storm That Changed a Village. This fictional tale takes you on a journey of what life was like in 1933 and the storm that forever changed Ocean City.

Tindley Festival, Germantown School, Berlin. A day dedicated to the music of Rev. Charles Albert Tindley. Local Gospel Choirs will join together to celebrate the music of Rev. Charles Albert Tindley, the father of Gospel music. The Germantown School museum will also present a brief history of Tindley’s musical legacy. The event is free to the public. 1-4pm.

Harbor Day at the Docks, West OC Commercial Harbor. This event features artisan exhibits, seafood cooking demonstrations, tales of the sea, children’s activities, and much more. Free.

Delmarva Legends Program, Delmarva Discovery Museum, Pocomoke City. Learn about different legends that have haunted our Peninsula from the Selbyville Swamp Monster to the legend of the Chincoteague ponies. These spooky tales have haunted the region and helped shape human culture in our area. After we discuss these legends we’ll send you on your way with a map of spooky areas to check out here on the peninsula! 12:30pm.

Candle Making, OC Lifesaving Station Museum. Make your own natural soy-based candle with Natalie Blanton, owner of Honey Water Candles, all while learning about early Ocean City. This is a drop-in class and payment will be given directly to Natalie Blanton. 1-3pm.

Haunted Pocomoke Forest Program, Delmarva Discovery Museum, Pocomoke City. The Pocomoke Forest is known as Maryland’s most haunted forest. Having served as a hideout for many during the civil war it’s no wonder this forest is full of urban legends, but where there is legend there is truth. Come find out what lurks in the Cypress Swamp and the role that this forest has played in shaping our history. 12:30pm.

Ghost Stories From the Sea, Ocean City Lifesaving Station Museum. Actor Ed Guinan will represent Anton, an 1883 shipwreck victim. Ed will tell the story of the three-masted, two-decked schooner, Sallie W. Kaye, running aground off the coast of Ocean City, and how one of the 8 crew members made the deadly attempt to swim ashore. 1-3pm.
